The MTP® 16 connector houses sixteen fibers in one compact connector body, delivering higher bandwidth per port compared to standard MTP® 12 connectors — without requiring additional panel space. Designed for next-generation architectures with full compatibility for high-speed data center, enterprise, and telecom infrastructure, and engineered for dependable mating and low insertion loss in high-density installations.

iFiber Optix Note: All MTP® 16 assemblies are produced using processes based on official US Conec certified training, ensuring proper connector construction, handling, and long-term optical stability.

Key Features

  • High-Density 16-Fiber Design Sixteen fibers terminated in a single connector maximizes fiber density and reduces panel space requirements in high-count installations — delivering 33% more fibers per connector vs. standard MTP® 12.
  • Precision MT Ferrule Alignment Advanced MT ferrule and guide pin design ensures accurate fiber alignment and consistent optical performance across all mating cycles — maintaining insertion loss specifications through hundreds of connections.
  • Low Insertion Loss Engineered for stable signal transmission across high-speed and long-distance network links — ≤ 0.35 dB typical insertion loss for both singlemode and multimode configurations.
  • Reliable MTP® Housing Secure mating interface built for frequent patching activity in active data center operations — rated for 500+ mating cycles with less than 0.1 dB change in insertion loss.
  • Singlemode & Multimode Supports OS2 singlemode and OM3/OM4/OM5 multimode fiber for diverse network applications — one connector platform covering the full range of modern data center fiber types.
  • US Conec Certified Assembly All iFiber Optix MTP® 16 assemblies are built using processes based on official US Conec training — guaranteeing construction quality, handling standards, and long-term optical stability.

Ideal Applications

MTP® 16 connectors are deployed wherever high fiber density, next-generation bandwidth, and compact panel space must coexist in the same infrastructure.

Data Center

High-Density Data Centers

Backbone and switch-to-switch connectivity where 16-fiber density reduces total port count, minimizes panel footprint, and supports 400G and beyond without additional rack space.

Telecom

Telecom Central Offices

High-capacity trunk and distribution cabling in central office environments — where maximizing fiber count per connector directly reduces hardware costs and cable management complexity.

High-Density

High-Density Patch Panels

Structured cabling panels that must deliver maximum fiber capacity per rack unit — MTP® 16 increases fiber density by 33% over MTP® 12 in the same panel footprint.

Enterprise

Enterprise Campus Backbones

High-capacity inter-building and campus backbone links where fiber count requirements are growing and MTP® 16 provides a cost-effective path to higher bandwidth without new conduit runs.

Cloud

Cloud & Hyperscale Networks

Hyperscale and cloud data center spine-leaf architectures where every connector, port, and rack unit is optimized for maximum fiber density and switching capacity per square foot.

Government / GSA

Government & Regulated Facilities

High-density fiber infrastructure for government data centers and secure facilities — with GSA contract availability for direct federal procurement of MTP® 16 assemblies and components.

Customization Options & Resources

iFiber Optix offers fully configurable MTP® 16 assemblies tailored to your network specifications — contact us with your requirements for a custom quote.

  • Custom Fiber Lengths 1m, 2m, 3m, 5m, 10m, 15m, or fully custom lengths for exact routing requirements in any rack, row, or campus layout.
  • Singlemode or Multimode OS2 singlemode or OM3/OM4/OM5 multimode — selected based on your distance requirements, transceiver specifications, and existing infrastructure.
  • Jacket Types PVC (OFNR), plenum (OFNP), or LSZH jacket options to meet fire codes, building regulations, and environmental requirements for any installation environment.
  • Polarity Configurations Method A, B, and C polarity options per TIA-568 standards — ensuring correct polarity management for any system architecture or transceiver type.

How to Configure Your MTP® 16 Assembly

Four decisions define your MTP® 16 assembly specification — work through them in order to arrive at the correct configuration.

01

Select Fiber Type

OS2 singlemode for long-distance backbone links, DWDM, and 100G+ applications. OM3/OM4 multimode for shorter-reach data center and campus connections. OM5 for wideband multimode (SWDM) transceivers and next-generation short-reach 400G links.

02

Choose Polarity Method

TIA-568 Method A (straight-through), Method B (flipped), or Method C (pair-flipped) — polarity choice must match your transceiver type and patch strategy. Incorrect polarity is the most common MTP® installation error; confirm before ordering.

03

Specify Length & Jacket

Measure your routing path carefully — MTP® trunk cables are not easily extended in the field. Select PVC for standard data center and equipment rooms, plenum (OFNP) for air-handling spaces, or LSZH for facilities with halogen restrictions.

04

MTP® 16 vs. MTP® 12

MTP® 16 delivers 33% more fibers per connector in the same panel footprint — the right choice for new high-density deployments. MTP® 12 remains correct when matching existing MTP® 12 infrastructure or when using 12-fiber transceiver modules that do not support 16-fiber interfaces.
